Your 2nd footnote made me smile - Yes! Please don’t forget that you wrote, tested, published and marketed your second cookbook during that time! I’m so happy for you that you’ve reached this new stage with your novel. Thank you for sharing your process with us, Luisa. 💗
I think you write beautifully, Luisa! And you've written and had two significant cookbooks published! You can do it! So glad you've hit a good spot in the process.
Sending so many congratulations your way! I hope you know deep-deep in heart how amazing a triumph this is. Six years is a drop in the bucket (for some context, it took Min Jin Lee decades to write Pachinko and imagine how less rich the world would be without it!). And always, libraries FTW 💖
I found your newsletter at the beginning of this year and, along with only one other on Substack, I feel a little leap of joy when I see that you’ve written something new. So I really look forward to the day I can read your kind, beautiful writing in a novel!
This is fantastic, Luisa! I appreciate the update so much. Thank you for sharing about your novel. I panic and stress about the state of the world, and I often use it as an excuse not to write. Yet, this update is a great reminder for us to delve even deeper into our creative obsessions now.
I’ve missed you so Luisa! So happy to see your post and an update on your progress. I’m a retired librarian so I understand your need for the sanctuary of the library. ❤️
Do not beat yourself up over the time it has taken to get where you are with the novel. Think about what you are adding to the book with your life experiences that you have had over the last six years. I treasure all the books that you have written and can't wait to read this one. You are brave and very talented!
As a fellow woman late diagnosed with ADHD I was wondering about medication. I wrote the thesis (Abschlussarbeit, 15 pages) for my coach training in 48 hours heavily medicated with methylphenidate. I detest the pill shaming and thank you for your openness.
i'm very happy for you, luisa (for working on your book and having this outlet, AND the library) and for us, your readers!

Keep up the wonderful writing. I am so glad you are continuing work on your novel!

Will look forward to reading this.
There is magic in the library!
Best wishes for the final polishing on your novel; I’m looking forward to reading it!

I am so happy to read this, Luisa! Congratulations! I can't wait to read this baby when it's live in living color!

I can’t wait to read it in due time.
Your opening paragraph is so much everything I am feeling, and so perfectly articulated. There’s comfort in hearing it. Thank you for that.
I’m glad you’ve found your library and look forward to your novel someday.
